I have officially survived my first week by myself with two kiddos! I must say, for the most part we not only survived, but thrived. Grace has continued going on the potty with no direction from me, and is a huge help with Matthew (added to her vocabulary list is now "burp cloth" and "Boppy"). Although I can't take all the credit for the stellar week! We have had dear friends bring us meals (and a playmate came for Grace one morning), and I still had a few surprises left for Grace, thanks to family.
Yesterday I had my first outing with both kids (and really my first time driving as well). What deserved such a special occasion? Well, Target of course! :) As a baby, Grace hated Target. Something to do with the lights? (No girl wants to be caught in bad lighting!) Matthew didn't seem to mind, even when things were piled in around him in the cart. That part was so baffling that I ended up going to the grocery store that night by myself. Where exactly are you supposed to put stuff when shopping with two kids? Did I just join the ranks of the Night Shoppers?
Our big girl in her "pajama dress", perfect for twirling. She stayed in it the whole next day. I'm seeing a lot of pajama days in my near future, for both of us.
Thanks, Grandma, for the fun craft! (Note the "thinking tongue" which connotes how much brain power this is taking.)

Thanks so much for the picture updates, Cat. I was getting antsy in my pantsy to see some of both kids. Could it be that Matthew is as happy and easy as Grace? And a smiler, too!
xoS
You know, it was probably gas making him smile. Although sometimes I swear he is laughing (you know I'm hillarious). Could it be?
I don't buy into that whole "gas smile" theory. That boy is HAPPY!
And I'm so proud of you (and pleasantly surprised) that you were able to (successfully?!?) get out of the house with two already! That never happens to anyone, you lucky duck! Yes, welcome to my world---our grocery store sees me on the same evening every week, right between 8:45 and 9:45. Considering I need to buy more than one item at a time, it's what works for me. Only Costco has carts big enough to take more than one child shopping.
Grace looks so big! I'll bet she looks huge to you guys now that you have Matthew to compare her to?
Thanks for the updates!
Great pictures! They're both so cute.
I'm sure every mom has a different solution to the shopping dilemma, but what worked for us was to either wait until Ben came home and then we would all go, using two carts (one for children, one for food) OR if I went without Ben, I'd wear Libby in a sling and Jacob sat in the cart's seat.
Things are much easier when they get a little older and they can both sit in one of those carts with a car at the front. Or one kid can sit in the basket with the food.
