I think it is safe to say that we have a walker now! She took her first steps when Aunt Sara was here before Christmas. She didn't attempt much more. Last week Grace decided to try a few steps a day, and realized we thought that was pretty cool. So then she thought she was hot stuff, and she should keep walking. She still prefers crawling because it is faster, but I can tell she is excited about this newest trick she has learned!

Wow! another instructive Johansson family blog for Auntie Susan. Walking is such a tremendous skill that we take for granted. The OT I work with (I always thought it was a little mean, but now I get it) has our new walkers walk over different colors of paper on the ground, then they graduate to rubber mat squares, then a very slight incline, then carpet squares and finally thick foam. It takes us months to get stable walkers. Did you see Grace bobble as she transitioned from light to dark on the floor?
Another interesting note is that she is NOT using all of her brain power for that one task. She still has enough left over to be aware of Dixie, talk to you to let you know she thinks she's fine, and THEN monitor Dixie's progress as she turns the corner. What a hoot. Thanks! You made my bagel so fun this morning.

i feel as though more videos should be posted. might be one of the cutest things she has done yet - ah there are so many moments to choose from! ;-) i just watched it again as an encouragement to keep studying... or a way to procrastinate, im never sure with these things
cant wait to see half of you guys in a couple of weeks!!!
She's getting to be such a big girl! Never mind that she's younger than my son, who likes his crawling just fine, thank you very much. ;)
It cracks me up to see Dixie's perplexed (forlorn) look of confusion as she witnesses this whole grandiose process. Does she know she's in for it now, or what?
Lordy Lordy Gracie! That was awesome!
